Rewilding of a woodland commission in progress

I have recently been working on a commission of a painting to depict the rewilding of a woodland. It’s an exciting project and inspiring to imagine what the woodland will look like in years to come.

A Window view of Honfleur

Last autumn, in Honfleur, France; I was lucky to stay in an attic room that had a lovely window view of the harbour from the top of the stairs. I have painted this view partly from memory and placed a small selection of flowers in a bottle to draw.

A Full Moon and a Moon Gazing Hare

On Tuesday this week there was a full moon and I felt inspired to paint this small painting of a hare and other woodland creatures. The first snowdrops have appeared in the garden and are the first sign that spring is on it’s way.

A second illustration of “The hare and the tortoise”

Whilst I was working on my previous commission of “The Hare and the Tortoise” I thought I would experiment with another composition. In this illustration the path is winding in a different direction and the fox is standing on all fours rather than sitting. I have also been working on my version of the written […]

Exhibiting at Blackthorpe Barn

I exhibited at Blackthorpe Barn near Bury St. Edmunds for three consecutive weekends in December leading up to Christmas. The old Tudor Barn was a great venue for the Arts and Crafts show and it was good to be inside with all the stormy weather that we had last month. It was exciting to exhibit […]

A House in Sherington

I enjoy working on commissions and this commissioned painting has a decoupaged frame too. I wanted to include all the garden so an overhead flying view of the house and gardens was the best perspective for this composition.

The Hare and the Tortoise

Here is the painting of “The Hare and the Tortoise”. I enjoyed creating movement and drama by adding swirls in the fields and ripples in the stream. This painting was also a commission.

Le Soleil et les Grenouilles

Here is “The Sun and the Frogs” in progress. During the summer I painted the lily pond in our nearby gardens and this was a really good starting point for me to begin this illustration. last week I was invited by an art group in Warwickshire to demonstrate and I began this painting there.

The Fox and the Crow

I’m currently working on some commissions based on Aesop’s Fables. I did this painting a while a go based on “The Fox and the Crow” and I am also painting “The Hare and the Tortoise” and “The sun and the Frogs”. I’m also enjoying reinventing a visual and written narrative to these ancient Greek tales. […]
