Last month I exhibited at Hever Castle with Craft In Focus and I was fortunate to have my individual gazebo overlooking the castle itself. I also managed to have a look around inside to add depth to my knowledge of the place. It was beautiful inside with many old Tudor paintings of Anne Boleyn and Henry VIII, amongst others. I wanted to give this painting a fairytale quality rather than a representational view so I added some angels, a white horse and dog. I have imagined Anne Boleyn is wandering through the grounds whilst a white horse is galloping in front of the portcullis; creating a kind of stage set with characters.
