When I danced with Les Impromptues at an arts festival in Honfleur we danced in this street. There was even a red bicycle artistically placed in the foreground, which I couldn’t help but add. We have danced three times at different festivals, twice at the arts festival and once at the fish festival. Last year we were commissioned to dance at the Erik Satie museum and then in the streets to commemorate one hundred years of his music since his demise in 1925. We danced to “Gymnopedie; one of his beautiful compostions and then improvised to music through the streets. We made our own costumes inspired by the sculptures of Constantin Brancusi who designed costumes for the dancer Lizica Codreanu. (Both Satie and Brancusi were good friends and met in Paris in 1910, they were part of the avant-guarde scene).
