At this time of year I think we look forward to Spring and what better way to begin my new portfolio of work than with an imaginative fairy painting. The shapes of the dancers include a diamond arm position of the pink fairy leaping to the left and a second variation, V-shaped arm position with the right leg kicking high behind, by the dancer dressed in blue. The movements of the fairies are expressive and reminiscent of the “avant-guarde” modern dancing of last century. I am trained in the school of dance Margaret Morris Movement which continues to inspire my dancing figures. Both dancers are barefoot and placed in a frieze of cowslips, bluebells and primroses.
